Abed Alrahman el Mozayyen was born in Palestine in 1943. After a BA and MA in fine art at Helwan University, Egypt, he received his PhD in Archaeology from the University of Khartoum, Sudan, in 1993. Active within the Palestine Liberation Organisation in teaching and cultural activities, he was Head of the PLO's art and cultural programme for Africa from 1984-94. As Founder and Director of the Artists of the Earth group, he has mounted over 30 international exhibitions and written books on the history of Palestinian and African art. Lives in Gaza City.
