John Keane was born in Hertfordshire in 1954 and studied at Camberwell School of Art (1972-76). His work has always been concerned with conflict and injustice, in Britain and around the world. Subjects have ranged from Northern Ireland to Nicaragua, from the British coal industry to Palestine – he visited Palestine with Christian Aid in 2002. He was the official war artist in the 1991 Gulf War. Lives and works in London.
