Jumana Emil Abboud was born in 1971 and studied fine arts in Canada and Jerusalem. Her work incorporates drawing, installation, video and performance and deals with themes of memory, loss, resilience and the feminine. Recent exhibitions include the 9th Lyons Biennial (2007), 'Palestine 1948' (Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam, 2008), 'Women Artists' (Museum of Contemporary Arts, Algiers, 2008) and 'Cactus Juice' (Maison des Metallos, Paris, 2008). She has been an artist-in-residence at Cove Park, Scotland (2006) and at Artists Initiative, Tokyo (2005). Lives in Jerusalem.
