Laila Shawa
Against the Wall, 'Tribute to Naji', #1 of 50, 2008 SOLD Laila Shawa was born in Gaza in 1940. She studied at the Rome Academy of Fine Arts and with Oskar Kokoschka at the School of Vision in Salzburg, Austria. Her multimedia work deals with socio-political issues and injustice. Her work is in private and public collections in the UK, US, Japan and the Middle East including the British Museum, the Scottish Museum of Modern Art, the Museum for Women in the Arts, D.C., the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, and the National Gallery of Jordan. She lives and works in London.
