Maliheh Afnan was born in Haifa to Iranian parents but left for Beirut in 1949. She studied at the American University of Beirut, the Corcoran School of Art (Washington DC), and for a MA in Fine Arts at George Washington University (1962). From 1963, she lived in first Beirut, then Kuwait and Paris before moving to London where she has lived since 1997. With many solo exhibitions in Beirut, Paris and London, and included in many group exhibitions, her work is in the public collections of the Institut du Monde Arabe, Paris, and the British Museum. Lives and works in London.
