Omar Bilbeisi studied art in Paris at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts and with the artist, Ounis Amor. In 1995, he took up the post of Assistant Director at Darat Al Funun in Amman, Jordan, and also helped set up the Dar El Fan Museum and the Museum of Traditional Life there. His paintings deal with the Arabic alphabet, freeing it from the rules pertaining to words, sentences and meaning. With solo exhibitions in Amman at the Orient Gallery (1998), and the Zara Gallery (2004 and 2007), his work has been shown internationally in many group exhibitions. He lives and works in Amman.
