Walid Siti
Load, 2006 SOLD Walid Siti was born in Duhok in Kurdistani Iraq in 1954. After graduating from the Institute of Fine Arts in Baghdad in 1976, he studied for a BA and MA in printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia (1977-82). His subjects are the disruptive impact of war, exile and loss. Living in London since 1984, his work is in the collections of the British Museum; Imperial War Museum; Victoria & Albert Museum; National Gallery of Amman, Jordan; the World Bank and the Iraq Memory Foundation in Washington, D.C. His recent solo exhibition, 'Land on Fire' was at the Leighton House Museum, London, in July 2008.
